Rick, a co-founder of TCV, has been a venture capitalist and technology investor for twenty nine years.
Rick has been involved in TCV investments in AllBusiness.com (sold to NBCI), Alteon WebSystems (sold to Nortel), Automated Trading Systems, Claremont Technology Group (sold to Complete Business Solutions), Clarus, Copper Mountain Networks, Corsair Communications, Eladian, GoDaddy, kgb, Liquidnet, LHS Group (sold to Sema), Metapath Software (sold to Marconi), Redback, RiskMetrics Group, Saville Systems (sold to ADC Telecommunications), Solect Technology Group (sold to Amdocs), Techwell, Trading Screen, Vastera (sold to JP Morgan), XIOtech (sold to Seagate) and Xylan (sold to Alcatel), among others.
Preceding TCV Rick was a Managing Director at Montgomery Securities where he spent over ten years focusing on telecommunications and data communications as both a venture capitalist and senior research equity analyst. Rick’s research received number one institutional rankings from Greenwich Associates and accolades from Institutional Investor Magazine.
Rick graduated Cum Laude from Dartmouth College with an A.B. degree in History and received his M.B.A. in 1983 with an emphasis in finance from the University of Chicago. He is currently on the Board of Directors of Eladian, GoDaddy, KGB.com, Liquidnet, and Trading Screen. Rick is a member of the Dartmouth College Board of Trustees. He Chairs its Investment Committee and is a member of its Executive Committee. He is also a member of the Phillips Academy Financial Aid Task Force Committee.
