We are delighted to announce the promotion of Kapil Venkatachalam and John Doran to General Partner.
Kapil and John have both demonstrated a keen ability to recognize technology trends and identify companies and management teams taking advantage of those trends to generate exceptional growth. We are confident that they will continue to provide CEOs with the best TCV has to offer: Deep expertise in technology markets, experience in helping leading tech companies scale and grow, and connectivity to the TCV network of executives.
Kapil joined TCV as an associate in 2006 and is currently based in our New York office. Focused primarily on the software and services sectors, Kapil has been involved with many TCV investments in his 10 years with the firm. Current investments include FinancialForce, Alarm.com, Rapid7, OSIsoft, Genesys and IQMS, where he holds a board seat. Prior investments include TOA Technologies (acquired by Oracle), Splunk (NASDQ: SPLK), ExactTarget (acquired by Salesforce.com), Seismic Microtechnology (acquired by IHS), Global360 (acquired by OpenText), and Solarc (acquired by OpenLink).
Prior to TCV, Kapil was an analyst at Goldman Sachs. Kapil received his Bachelor of Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications from University of Madras in India and his Masters in Engineering Management and Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from Dartmouth College where he was a William F. May Fellow.
John joined TCV’s London office in 2012 as a principal. His primary investment focus is within the software, Internet, and financial technology sectors. John’s contributions have included investments in Believe Digital, NewVoiceMedia, WorldRemit, as well as Perfecto and Brillen.de, where he serves on the boards.
Prior to joining TCV, John was at Summit Partners, Xander Group and Morgan Stanley. John received an AB in economics from Harvard University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Kapil and John have been standout contributors to the firm overall and specifically to our New York and London teams.
