Katja Gagen

Head of Marketing

Entrepreneurship is about striving to achieve great results with insufficient resources. I love to help CEOs and founders build a brand by employing creativity, innovation, and brashness.

Katja joined TCV in 2015, bringing more than 15 years of experience in marketing and branding strategy, messaging, media relations, executive communications, event management, and brand positioning. She oversees marketing and branding for the firm and provides marketing support to TCV portfolio companies.

Before joining TCV, Katja created and led the marketing function at General Catalyst, an early stage venture capital firm.

Previously, Katja worked at Cisco, where she ran strategic communications and positioning for the company’s President, Engineering and Sales. Her career spans both early and late stage investing with VP of Marketing roles at DCM, an early stage venture capital firm, and Warburg Pincus, a global private equity firm. Katja also led the U.S. marketing efforts at 3i, an international private equity and venture capital firm.

Katja speaks five languages and loves to travel, read, and ride horses. She is an identical twin, and her family used to dance disco routines with some fairly complex moves. They still break them out from time to time at birthdays or weddings. People are often impressed. Her son is not.

Katja earned an M.A. in International Relations, Political Science, and Linguistics from Johannes-Gutenberg University in Germany and holds a B.A. in Business Management from the University of Applied Sciences for Economics, Berlin.
