Festina lente – make haste slowly – refers to balancing urgency and thoughtfulness in tackling tasks, and serves as my mantra when helping our companies navigate issues and drive growth.
Maya has been investing in growth-stage consumer internet and mobile technology businesses at TCV since 2009. Her current investments include Airbnb, Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: EA), GoFundMe, Klook, Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX), Rent the Runway, Rover, Spotify, TripAdvisor, and VICE Media. She also supports TCV’s investments in Minted and Prodege (parent company of Swagbucks), where she is a member of the board of directors. Her prior investments at TCV include Facebook (NASDAQ: FB), Groupon (Nasdaq: GRPN), LinkedIn (acquired by Microsoft), and Tiny Prints (acquired by Shutterfly).
Maya was previously the CFO of Paperless Post, which she joined pre-launch. She began her career as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley in the Media & Communications group. She has also spent time evaluating early stage technology investments at Thrive Capital.
Maya is passionate about all things consumer tech and feels #blessed that trying new products and services counts as due diligence. She was born in San Francisco, raised in Cleveland, and educated in Boston, so avoids discussing sports at all costs. She does, however, love to play sports. She also enjoys adventures of all kinds and, whenever possible, a good couch nap on the weekend. Maya lives in San Francisco with her husband, Eric, and their dog, Stanley.
Maya graduated magna cum laude with an A.B. from Harvard College, where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She received her M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
