Rick has been a venture capitalist and technology investor for 40 years. He and Jay Hoag co-founded TCV in 1995. Since that time TCV has raised over $17 billion in capital and has become a leading provider of growth capital to technology companies. Rick has been recognized by Forbes on its Midas List several times as one of the industry’s top technology investors. Rick has been involved in TCV investments including Actifio, AllBusiness.com (acquired by NBCI), Alteon WebSystems (acquired by Nortel), AxiomSL, Claremont Technology Group (acquired by Complete Business Solutions), Clarus, Copper Mountain Networks, Corsair Communications, ExtraHop, Fuze, GoDaddy, kgb, LHS Group (acquired by Sema), Liquidnet, Metapath Software (acquired by Marconi), Redback Networks (acquired by Ericsson), Rent the Runway (NASDAQ: RENT), RiskMetrics Group, Saville Systems (acquired by ADC Telecommunications), Solect Technology Group (acquired by Amdocs), Techwell, Trading Screen, Vastera (acquired by JP Morgan), XIOtech (acquired by Seagate), and Xylan (acquired by Alcatel). Interests

Rick currently serves on the Board of Trustees at the University of California, San Francisco. He chairs the Audit, Compliance and Risk Management Committee and sits on both the Executive and Development Committees. He serves on the Board of the Ohana Foundation in Kona, HI, and chairs its Investment Committee. Previously Rick served on the Dartmouth College Board of Trustees (2012-2020). He chaired the Investment Committee and was a member of both the Audit/Oversight and Resources committees. He Co-Chaired Dartmouth College’s “Call to Lead” $3.8 Billion Capital Campaign.

Education

Rick graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College with an A.B. degree in History and received his M.B.A. with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Chicago.
